Find the most impactful climate solutions with Nottingham Business School

There is an ever-increasing awareness of the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, address climate change, and transition to a net zero society. This has led to a demand for climate literacy from managers and employees at all levels, working in organisations across the public, private, and third sector.

This microcredential will help you develop your climate literacy and understand climate leadership, so that you can make an impact in your own organisation, or apply for one of the many green jobs now on offer. You’ll hear from experts and climate leaders in a wide range of sectors, who’ll share their advice on how you can incorporate climate solutions into your everyday work.

With these insights, you’ll be empowered to work towards a positive future for your organisation, neighbourhood, and wider society.

Learn to take a systems approach to achieve systemic change

To ensure your climate actions achieve maximum impact, you’ll learn how to take a systems approach to climate change. You’ll discover ways of contextualising your actions, as you identify key levers to reduce global warming worldwide.

This understanding will expose how systemic change is needed to achieve lasting solutions. You’ll delve into longer-term policies and incentives that could transform daily actions into meaningful change.

Gain an understanding of climate change science and carbon management

Throughout the course, you’ll develop your knowledge of climate change science. Covering key concepts like carbon sinks, carbon removal, and carbon accounting, you’ll learn more about how our climate is changing.

This knowledge will help you find solutions for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, while also lowering energy costs for your organisation or household.

You’ll identify which solutions are most appropriate for your context, so that you can begin to define a concrete action plan.

Make an impact with climate leadership and climate-conscious management

Once you’ve decided on an action plan, you can begin to develop your own climate expertise and leadership skills.

You’ll home in on various industries and areas of business, discussing how climate solutions can be incorporated into their activities. You’ll look at fields as varied as entertainment, marketing, food production, and property development, to see how each could be made more climate-conscious, with lower carbon emissions.

You’ll also explore green finance and investment strategies to understand how money can be used to finance a better future.

Communicate what you know about climate change mitigation

Using your understanding of climate solutions, you’ll discover how you can engage people more effectively through channels, such as reports, social media, and sustainable web design.

Whether you’re starting your climate career, changing directions, or adding climate solutions to your everyday work, this microcredential will help you become an advocate for a net zero future.
